Resumen

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a subfield of computer science dedicated to the advancement of machine capabilities for emulating human cognitive processes and applying them to real-world scenarios. In recent years, AI has witnessed widespread adoption across various aspects of our daily lives. This technological transformation has also extended its influence into the realm of civil engineering, particularly in the domains of digitization and intelligence. This ex-tension of AI capabilities facilitates significant enhancements in automation, performance, and reliability. Moreover, it fosters a dynamic link between physical and digital construction processes. The amalgamation of AI-driven solutions is poised to revolutionize the field of civil engineering, driven by the cost-effective-ness of digital technologies when contrasted with the substantial expenses involved in infrastructure construction, operation, and maintenance. This literature review seeks to explore the current contributions of AI, spanning diverse domains such as genetic algorithms, artificial neural networks, and swarm intelligence, in the context of civil engineering.
