Resumen

The purpose of this study was to produce and to purify specific polyclonal antibodies for Salmonella Enteritidis (Enterobacteriaceae). The anti-serum was raised in rabbits using purified flagelin. Anti-serum titer and specificity were determined by an immunoassay - ELISA and its purification was performed by sepharose protein A affinity chromatography. The bacteria suspensions were cultivated in five different media (brain heart infusion - BHI, tripticase soy broth, nutrient broth - NB, peptone water). Results have showed that anti-serum titers varied depending on which media type was used and BHI and NB media yielded the most significant results. The anti-serum produced was specific for Salmonella Enteritidis. Its cross-reactivity with Salmonella Thyphimurium, Salmonella Infantis and Salmonella Newport were 16.0, 11.9 and 6.4% respectively and lower percentages than those were observed in other Enterobacteriaceae species tested. Results indicate that these polyclonal antibodies may be used in standardization of immunological assays for Salmonella Enteritidis detection.
