Resumen

Objective: To describe the level of humanization of care from the perspective of health staff and the perception of user treatment in a Chilean oncology unit. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study with two samples: unit staff (n=29) and users/family members (n=44). The adapted HUMAS scale and a user treatment perception survey were applied. A descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Results: A notable disso-nance between perceptions was found. Health staff reported a critical and heterogeneous self-assessment of their level of humanization, with areas for improvement in optimism and self-efficacy. In contrast, users rated the treatment received with an outstanding score (average 6.8 out of 7). Conclusions: While user satisfaction is very high, the critical self-perception of the staff suggests the existence of internal burnout and emotional labor not visible to the patient. Caring for the caregiver is essential to ensure humane and sustainable care.
