La raza latina y la unión americana en el contexto del filibusterismo centroamericano: una mirada a la prensa desde la historia conceptual

Producción científica: Contribución a una revistaArtículorevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

The filibustering presence in Central America has generated horizons of reflection in which the critical investigation of newspapers and the analysis of the use of language broaden the national gaze and cross borders. The political narratives of the printed media mobilized language, interweaved lexical-semantic schemes and exposed political projects. Conceptual elements, actors' experiences and the configuration of filibustering as an external threat that affects Central American sovereignty and independence entered the public debate. In this context, a semantic repertoire is configured around the Latin race and the American union, which circulates through the press and delimits a horizon of expectation in terms of the future, survival of Hispanic American societies and the American confederation. Discordant voices, contrary positions, conceptualizations and the expansion of the term Latin race and its antagonistic relationship with the Anglo-Saxon race are found in the communicative framework.
