Resumen

Asbtract: The phenomenon of fake news or false news has spread through the Internet, in digital environments such as social networks and instant messaging applications, as a result of the abundance of information and the prosumer role of the user. This research aims to analyze the strategies implemented by the General Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency to combat fake news during the national strike, from October 03 to 13, 2019. A quantitative methodology was used through surveys applied to university teachers, and qualitatively, perceptions of experts in political communication were obtained. The results obtained allow us to show the impact that fake news has on processes of social upheaval. Academics and experts conclude that; the Government’s crisis communication planning does not respond to the demand for information in a scenario of shock and proliferation of fake news.
