Resumen
COVID-19 has deeply affected the lives of family members, where positive health experiences are treasured and deserve to be socialized. The study aimed to understand the experiences of family members regarding the care of patients with COVID-19 to assume the management and outpatient treatment of patients. Ten relatives of patients affected by coronavirus participated, whose sampling was non-probabilistic by convenience and theoretical saturation. The semi-structured interview and the focus group were used to obtain the data, following Colaizzi's method. The categories obtained were: 1) Quality of care for patients affected with COVID-19; 2) Experience of relatives of patients with coronavirus in outpatient management and home treatment; 3) Indelible experiences of patients affected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the family caregiver; 4) Impact of the quality of private health services on patients affected during the health emergency; 5) Faith in God in times of pandemic and 6) Resilience of the relative in the care of people affected by the global pandemic. It was shown that there is an urgent need for accompaniment and support by health professionals to primary caregivers, providing them with the education and skills necessary for the adequate management and treatment of the patient in the home setting. We recommend using the results obtained in this study as a basis for future research, thus improving the care provided and the patient's recovery in their family environment.
