Resumen

To have an excellent voice quality in VoIP networks implies to generate studies based on the perception of the user and on the QoS analysis in the calls. In this research, it was carried out the assessment of the voice quality in the calls by means of the MOS, and the evaluation of the QoS through the verification of the recommended theoretical values for the technical parameters latency, jitter and packet loss. For this, real VoIP calls were performed in different case scenarios with softphone applications installed in smartphones. In the tests, eight voice codecs were used in order to determine which one allows to have the best voice quality and a good QoS during the calls performed. The comparisons of the voice codecs demonstrate that the codec iLBC-13.33 reported the best results for this case study.
