Resumen
This paper introduces the Ecuadorian Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra, composed by Luis Humberto Salgado (Ecuador) in 1976. It also presents a new transcription of the solo part and discusses the composer’s nationalistic musical conception. This work is the first known guitar concerto composed in Ecuador. The article is divided into four parts. The first part presents a brief biography, the second explains the characteristics of the transcription, the third discusses Salgado's musical nationalism, and the fourth outlines the main elements of the concerto. The new transcription for the soloist part is included as an appendix to the article.
