COMMUNICATION RESEARCH FROM THE EQUATOR

Communication research is a fundamental issue, inspired by Christian values at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE). The strain between practitioners and academics of the field dims through communication research. It provides mutual rewards when research comprises teaching, learning, and per forming in situated contexts and, systematically, eval uating the outcomes for continual improvements, fol lowing the motto “be more to serve better.” It is important to take account of the history of communication research in the region. In Quito, on 1959, CIESPAL—the International Center for Advanced Communication Studies for Latin America—was created, following the 10th General Conference of UNESCO in 1956 recommending this initiative.
