Abstract

In this work an analysis of the social use of the radio along with a theoretical and contextual approach to the postulates of migration and communication is fulfilled. Our study object is Integración radio from Sevilla, in Spain, and its cohesive role within the group of Ecuadorian immigrants. The investigation is approached from the qualitative methodology, for which we use the inductive method through the life story technique. The results are interpreted through the discourse analysis of the narratives of the informants. Grosso modo, the results reflect that the station constantly appeals to the patriotic sense of belonging of the Ecuadorians settled in Seville, which affects the social cohesion among the compatriots and not precisely their integration.
