Abstract
Web applications require increasingly demanding security measures to prevent unauthorized access, which has increased the degree of difficulty in handling credentials for users. This article presents a systematic review of the literature on web authentication methods that have been analyzed from the point of view of usability. Our findings indicate that the most analyzed authentication methods are graphical authentication and single-factor authentication, using inquiry methods for usability evaluation and as measurement parameters: Time of use, ease of learning, effortless memory and efficiency. One particularity is that the studies have been applied mostly to young adults between the ages of 20 and 40, leaving open the possibility for future research on the analysis of elderly people, with disabilities, among others.
