Abstract

The following article introduces the results of the comparative social network analysis realized over the shareholders of economic elites of contemporary Ecuador across "Socialism of the 21st Century" governments (2007 and 2016). The information of the enterprises and their shareholders that had the highest incomes each year were extracted from the administrative records of the taxation and superintendence institutions of Ecuador. This period lets us grasp how economic elites interrelated themselves at the final of Rafael Correa's government (pink tide government, in academic literature). The results suggest some integration levels among existing banking elites from 2007 to 2016, and moreover, with health insurance, retail sales and automotive imports in 2016. These results may clarify the landscape of the people and the organizations that orchestrate the threads of modern economic life in this country.
