Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze business intelligence for inventory management in companies importing footwear structural parts, specifically those located in the city of Ambato, Ecuador, framed in the positivist paradigm under the quantitative approach. The theoretical perspective was approached from Rodríguez (2021), Zabaleta (2021), González (2020), Ivanov (2020), Li (2019) among others. Information was obtained from primary sources, through the application of a survey to the owners and/or managers of companies that import footwear structural parts in Ambato. The information obtained was processed through a statistical analysis, which revealed that in the nine importing companies of footwear components, registered in the Ministry of Production and the National Chamber of Footwear, there is a low presence in the use of information provided by business intelligence to make decisions and a low use of business intelligence tools for inventory management. However, it is known about the operational and financial benefits provided by the use and implementation of tools in the area of inventories. Thus, business intelligence would represent a fundamental tool to optimize inventory management, improve efficiency, reduce costs, increase profitability and strengthen competitiveness.
