Evaluation of Web Accessibility in the State Citizen Service Portals Most Used by Disabled People

Abstract

A website is accessible means that all types of users have a satisfactory experience in navigating it, regardless of age, if they have a disability, or the type of device and operating system they use. With the exponential increase in the use of the web it is necessary to know if the websites have this characteristic so this article presents the evaluation of web accessibility to the state sites of citizen services most used by people with visual and hearing disabilities of Tungurahua-Ecuador, and their compliance with the current standard NTE INEN-ISO/IEC 40500, using the TAW tool, our findings in-dicate that the most used state sites are the Ministry of Labor, the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Autonomous Government Decentralized Municipal of Ambato, the investigation shows as a result that none of the 4 websites complies with current regulations, however, the SRI website presents least problems and the GADMA website presents the most accessibility problems, In a cross-sectional analysis, it was determined that the Operable principle is the one that presents the most problems in all websites, in its criterion 2.4.4 Purpose of the links this measurement was made based on the AA criterion, which is the one that should be fulfilled for Ecuador until August 8, 2020 according to the approved regulations.
