Abstract
This paper presents the design of a knowledge-based system that allows knowing the penalties that can be sentenced for cases of criminal offenses against people taking into account the characteristics of the crime committed, its aggravating and mitigating conditions. This system is designed for being used by students in the area of Law or Jurisprudence or practicing lawyers who wish to know the possible actions according to each crime and the environment under which it was committed. This system is based on what is established in the current Venezuelan penal code. with regard to crimes committed against people and particularly homicide.
