Abstract

This article presents the results obtained in Ecuador within the framework of the project Worlds of Journalism Study (WJS), which was conducted in more than seventy countries around the world. Specifically, it analyzes the perceptual differences that women journalists have about t heir professional roles with respect to men in the media in the country. The results suggest that the ideas that women journalists have do not differ greatly from those of their male colleagues. However, the development and the consolidation of the profess ional role of women journalists within the media and the Ecuadorian society is shown.
