Abstract
The object of study is to evaluate the profile of DirCom in Ecuadorian universities and its main challenges in terms of institutional communication for the coming years. It is analyzed how the communication departments are organized, their location in the organization chart, their competencies, and other issues. The importance of communication has not been homogenized, the teams assume multiple approaches in their agendas, and they do not have related training in their entirety; despite being a tool that continues to be more operational than strategic.
