The work was supported by ecological planning, values natural and anthropogenic factors at different scales, occurring over time. It starts from a qualitative analysis with a historical focus on some attributes of the urban landscape. The research follows with a quantitative analysis performed from an urban image survey carried out in the sector to verify data from the historical analysis. It concludes with the scenic values that marked the growth of the colonial checkerboard resignifying it as a basis for the further development of the Republican period.
