Organization profile

The research interests of the group are oriented towards promoting the development of studies that support the state policy on the eradication of gender-based violence in Ecuador. This initiative demonstrates the sensitivity and support of the academic community in building equality. The main commitment of the research group is the generation and dissemination of knowledge that highlights the exploration of gender-based violence in different populations or contexts, its consequences on physical and mental health, analysis of roles and stereotypes, as well as the design and implementation of preventive programs with proven effectiveness. This latter aspect aims to expand the social and scientific transfer of the group's achievements, with science serving the community. Similarly, we are interested in gaining an understanding of how considering gender perspective helps us understand the influence of cultural and social environment on individuals and how this can impact the differential exposure of women and men (as well as boys and girls) to risks, accidents, their access to basic resources for good health, and aspects such as the occurrence, severity, and frequency of violence or diseases. Among the goals and expectations of the research group are: Promoting high-quality interdisciplinary research on the topic with openness to incorporating members with other specialties. Improving collaboration among researchers and other individuals interested in gender and health studies (including undergraduate and postgraduate students). Advancing international cooperation by promoting joint dissemination, international mobility, conferences, seminars, and future incorporation into national or international networks.
