Poverty, Inequality, and the Labor Market

Organization profile

Organization profile

The Poverty, Inequality and Labor Market research group focuses on the study of the socioeconomic dynamics that perpetuate poverty and inequality in Latin America, with a special emphasis on the structural problems of the labor market. The group aims to understand the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality, considering factors such as productive gaps, territorial inequalities, and labor precariousness. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the group seeks to generate knowledge that not only contributes to the theoretical understanding of these phenomena, but also serves as a basis for the formulation of effective and sustainable public policies.

Among the main objectives of the group are: to develop research that identifies and analyzes the determinants of poverty and inequality in Latin America, and especially in Ecuador; to design and validate indicators that allow a more accurate measurement of these phenomena; and to propose evidence-based solutions to improve equity in the labor market. In addition, the group intends to disseminate the results of its research through academic publications, policy reports, and the organization of seminars and workshops, in order to influence public debate and the formulation of policies that promote social justice and inclusive development.
