The group focuses on comparative research in the field of Romance philology. Our first project revolves around: A comparative operation essential for understanding Borges as a reader and interpreter: his analysis of Dante's poetics through the numerous conferences he delivered, aside from his explicitly dedicated production on Dante (such as the "Nine dantesque essays"). This theme will gain particular prominence as 2021 marks the seventh centenary of Dante's death (1321). The presence of the medieval Gonzalo de Berceo in the poetics of Antonio Machado. With this, we aim to consider a sector of Spanish philology considered marginal in the current panorama of American studies. Given its greater tradition in the study of medieval literature and the early Spanish Renaissance, several Italian academies, such as the University of Milan and "La Sapienza" in Rome, could serve as references for fruitful collaboration in the field.
