This maternal and child research group has a multidisciplinary collaborative structure in which we participate: nurses, doctors, obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians, nutritionists, psychologists, etc., we aim to improve the health of mothers in the gestation period, during childbirth, postpartum, breastfeeding and the child in the different stages of development, in order to guarantee quality care in maternal and child health. To propose the defense of the rights of children, the mother and the father of the family, as protagonists of this attention. The research group's interest is aimed at addressing health needs understood as a state of biological, psychological, and social well-being; and, its relationship with the determinants of health-disease, to achieve a dignified life and human development, from the beginning of life, prenatal period, perinatal, childbirth, breastfeeding, child and adolescent development. The main objective is to generate and disseminate new knowledge based on scientific evidence, which makes visible the problems of the maternal and child group in topics of interest at the national level such as: factors that affect maternal mortality, neonatal mortality, infant mortality, an approach by the component of sexual and reproductive health, care for the mother during the prenatal period, perinatal, childbirth and postpartum, breastfeeding and its influence on child development, nutrition in childhood and psychological factors that affect this stage of life. In addition, it is intended to integrate knowledge based on scientific evidence into the professional practice obtained from research in the maternal and child field and disseminate the results of research carried out in indexed journals.
