The GGBE is integrated by researchers specialized in different areas of knowledge (molecular genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, data science, computer science) whose interest is to build on interdisciplinary and transversal collaboration. For this purpose, Drosophila was initially used as a model organism; however, we are currently integrating new organisms to our research, through which knowledge will be generated to learn about the evolutionary processes of species, conserve natural areas and create technological innovation.
In addition to the research activities, the group wants to focus on the training of students and their active integration to the processes of knowledge generation. In order to carry out an interdisciplinary training and knowledge, we have implemented a Bioinformatics Workshop to optimize the collaborative work of teachers and students from different areas of knowledge, mainly life.
The interdisciplinary work of this group ensures that the results of our research are more robust and have greater projection and impact at the academic (graduation of students) and technological (generation of innovative products) levels.
