Forms and formulas of address in Ibero-Romance languages

Organization profile

Organization profile

The main objective of the FORTRATIB group is the study of the forms and formulas of treatment in Ibero-Romance languages. The analysis takes into account the diastratic, diatopic and diaphasic factors. The group aims to create a labeling system that allows an instantaneous classification of all forms based on two criteria: the pragmatic-grammatical and the psychosocial, which can also be interpreted as primary and secondary labels. Likewise, the vocative is included as an element of study together with the proper pronominal forms of treatment, also by labels. Similarly, the group focuses on the morphosyntactic study of the forms and formulas of treatment, which until now have been considered almost exclusively a pragmatic element. The proposed study of the forms of treatment is from the categorial functional approach (Frías, 2019). This means that attention will be paid not only to the sociopragmatic aspects, which are the usual ones, but also to the morphosyntactic aspects that affect the forms of treatment (FT). The group is formed by researchers from three countries in order to cover a larger group of Ibero-Romance languages.
