Creación artística, imagen y contexto

Organization profile

Organization profile

The research group “Creación artística, imagen y contexto” aims to generate knowledge about contemporary artistic practices, their history, circulation, and teaching, from an interdisciplinary, critical, and situated approach. The group combines research-creation methodologies, historiographical and pedagogical studies, and analysis of media and legitimation in the field of visual art. Its lines of work include: artistic production as a form of knowledge; critical reinterpretation of Ecuadorian art history; the study of editorial, curatorial, and archival devices; and methodological innovation in arts education. The group's research is oriented towards both the creation of work and theoretical reflection, with a strong emphasis on written production, links with the media, and the training of new generations of researcher-artists. The group seeks to contribute to the development of artistic thought from Latin America, connecting sensitive practices with contemporary social, political, and cultural issues.
