The research interests of the CONTEXTOS research group focus on the generation of socially and environmentally sustainable cities and communities, with an emphasis on participatory design processes at different scales. In the era of global goals for sustainable urban development, the CONTEXTOS research group proposes the study of the local context and focuses on contextual urbanism and architecture. This more precise response to diverse urban environments is achieved through strategies and criteria of participatory design and solutions adapted to their physical, social, economic, and cultural environments. With this principle as a premise, the group also seeks to investigate processes of technological innovation based on the development of applied research in various fields: constructive technology and new materials, efficiency in resource use and waste management, resilience of urban ecologies focusing on adaptation and mitigation of climate change, and promotion of new tools for participation and co-creation processes. Promote the use of constructive technologies and new materials that contribute to the existence of closed life cycles in the construction sector. Foster efficiency in resource use and waste management for the establishment of circular economies. Contribute to urban resilience through the appreciation, visibility, and use of design measures that contribute to adaptation and mitigation of climate change. Employ new technologies that can serve participatory processes and social participation while allowing us to generate more precise databases for urban analytics studies that are more faithful to the territorial realities they seek to describe.
