The group focuses on biodiversity conservation through relevant, interdisciplinary scientific research and engagement with society through technical training for local actors and environmental education initiatives. The objectives:

1. Generate relevant information for biodiversity conservation in Ecuador through long-term monitoring programs in Ecuador's protected areas and socio-environmental projects with indigenous communities.

2. Establish strategic alliances with national institutions (Ministry of the Environment, National Institute of Biodiversity) and international institutions, as well as indigenous communities in various regions of the country.

3. Implement technical training programs for local actors (park rangers and communities) to conduct scientific research, as well as for undergraduate and graduate students.

4. Implement environmental education initiatives in the city, as well as in rural areas.
